Artist, Painter, Creative Director , musician at times, Co -Founder THE NEXT BIG THINK and Partner of GOOD FOOD COMPANY (Tropical Health and Well-being), with two awesome kids, I am a constant explorer of the human spirit. Painting has always been my core. My style is a mix of classical and contemporary painting, mainly using Acrylic/Oils and soft pastels. Still love the old maters and constantly trying to figure out their tricks. I would say I am a slow, detailed painter.
Being a Sri Lankan artist has given so much subject matter for most of my pieces. Whether it is dirt on the road, to the most interesting faces on the pavement or the most breath-taking trees. I can go on… Almost everywhere I look, I get inspiration. I don’t necessarily believe in sticking to one theme of art, or every piece has to be interlinked, for the world is so chaotic and constantly changing, that inspiration can pop up from anywhere.
Although my academics are from Communication Design and Marketing, and being in Advertising for the longest period (Did to some award winning work), has widened the way I look art and also made me understand the true value of proper artistry vs. the commercial art, and what not to be as an artist. I studied under Nadine David (Who studied under David Paynter), a fine arts tutor for almost 10 years and have no formal education in art except for the knowledge that was passed down which I value every much.
I have exhibited in group exhibitions, art festivals and also had my solo exhibitions. Currently working on a solo exhibition, titled ‘Soulscapes’. Here explore of the feminine soul in its barest form. Innermost desires, awakened feelings, hungers and daydreams find their place on canvas in portrayal of the 'I' within every woman. My work aims to provoke a deep sense of exploration of oneself as woman.
Recently concluded a successful solo exhibition based on a theme of People, Puddles and Paradise.
